G Y P S Y M U S I C / ROMANY MUSIC
They call themselves, and their language, Romany.
BALKANOLOGY: Ivo Papasov (clarinet) is one
of the most popular musicians in all Bulagaria. His modern Romany
wedding music band can make any wedding or other celebration into
an event the whole town remembers for many years to come. CD 159.-
GYPSIES OF CLEJANI: Original recordings from Romania. Musique
des Tsiganes de Valachie is rhythmic music that really swings:
159.-
MASTIKA: Slobo Horo is modern Balkan music played
by the Finnish-Turkish group, Mastika. Wild and hot dance music,
even for Scandinavians. The music is derived especially from the
Romany traditions in the Balkan and in Turkey. 159.-
GYPSY VIOLINS: Sandor Deki Lakatos and his group play
"classical" music. Imagine sitting in a darkish restaurant
with the parson your heart has opened to, and Sandor comes and
plays Chopin or Massenet's Meditation over your shoulder. 109/169.-
OTHER TITLES: Les Fréres Erköse (Tyrkiet)
Gypsy folksongs (Balkan). Peter Bastians teacher, Nikola Jankov:
A Master on Clarinet (Bulgaria)
FLAMENCO: Spanish flamenco is full of powerful feelings set in an exactingly stringent rhythmical structure. The guitar always touches the listener with the force of old recognition, and there is of course much of what I would call gypsy blues in its sound (blues understood as a universally human expression of feeling).
We have a number of different titles, with and without song.
For example flamenco soul with the two great masters of guitar and song: Paco de Lucia & Fosforito: 169.-
And fine classical flamenco guitar and song with Los Malagueños:
CD 119.-
